Ghettology 101: When Ghetto Goes Bad

Welcome to the first round of "When Ghetto Goes Bad"....

One of my favorite topics to write about is Ghettology 101. I consistently talk about the Hot Ghetto Messes of the world, Hoovers, and the like. To me it's not enough to talk about the things that make you cringe. Every criticism you give should be followed up by a suggestion/correction. So from this point on that will be the purpose of addressing these particular topics and issues. After all, the Hot Ghetto Messes and the Hoovers of the world have their own issues and questions that they ponder on a daily basis. While many of us are pining away trying to figure out how we will get ahead in life, the HGMs are trying to figure out important things such as: should I beat this bitches ass or should I fuck her nigga? Should I wash my ass today or should I go to sleep? (sigh) Decisions, decisions.

Yes folks, it would be selfish to ignore the trying circumstances that HGMs face in their life. Everyone has their own trials and tribulations and it's not right to say that ones trials is greater than someone else's.

With that said, I dedicate Ghettology 101 to all the HGMs that I have encountered in my life. This is for you guys :-)

Today's Topic: To Smoke or Not To Smoke?


Everyone knows that one of the biggest issues that face the average HGM is how to pass a drug test when applying for a job especially since the average HGM's best friend is named Mary Jane. There are many home remedies that HGM's have come up with to overcome this major issue as cited below:

1. drink a gallon of water in one sitting a day before your test
2. buy an expensive drink that clears out the toxins in your system
3. eat sesame seeds since they give drug tests a false-positive
4. don't smoke for 2-4 weeks before your test
5. drink a lot of orange juice because the acid clears it out


I must say to all the HGMs out there, home remedies 3 and 5 absolutely do not work and you are by far one of the Head HGMs if you believe that they do. Home remedies 1,2, and 4 work but only for drug test requiring a urine sample.

What the HGMs of the world do not know is that companies, particularly top companies, are getting smarter. Drug test can be administered via salvia, urine, or hair. Many companies are now turining to hair samples.

Drug test requiring hair samples can show your smoking history 90days prior from the date of the test. And for those who have longer hair, your smoking history may be detected for over 90 days.

And don't for an instant think that shaving is an option. Drug testing facilities will take hair from other places on your body.

The point of the story kiddies is that smoking will significantly hinder your chances of getting ahead in life. I am a former smoker and haven't smoked for nearly two years now....but just think if I stopped smoking 4 months ago, and all of a sudden I was offered a good paying job....but I couldn't get it because I failed a damn drug test. The 4 months wouldn't make a difference. And depending on your own personal DNA depends on just how far back they can detect drug use.
